A large-scale puja and homa organized by the Kannada film industry on August 14 aimed to uplift the industry from its current state of despair, receiving both strong support and criticism. Actor Doddanna defends the event, emphasizing that it was done with good intentions and hopes that detractors can recognize the positive intentions behind it. Key details of the event included the participation of priests from the Karavali region, with renowned priest Prakash Ammannaya leading the puja. The preparations for the puja began the night before, with various rituals and pujas being conducted over a half day. Costs for the different aspects of the puja ranged from thousands to tens of thousands of rupees. Notably, special care was taken in designing the intricate mandala for the Ashlesha puja room, which took six hours to complete following strict protocols. The decision to hold the puja was driven by a belief that divine intervention could bring relief when faced with challenges, akin to seeking solace in temples during personal crises. Actor Doddanna further emphasized that the industry coming together like a family and turning to faith in difficult times is not a misguided approach. The puja was initiated by industry seniors with a focus on collective well-being.It is considered a responsibility to attend. Just like how we all go when an artist invites us to their home for a puja, it is the right thing to do and participate when the industry comes together for a sacred purpose. - Gurukiran, music director
